Happy Father's Day!

In honor of Father's Day, I created two different types of cupcakes for the man of the house.

Grill Cupcakes!

Aren't these just the cutest???  Perfect for the 4th of July or any summertime picnic.

Next up were Turtle Cupcakes complete with cream cheese frosting, chocolate, caramel and some pecans.  These are so go.... yes... I had to try one!  lol

Also this week, besides doing a lot of Father's Day cookies, I had a request for these beautiful, lacy looking flowers.

The ones pictured were done with a silver lustre dust but I have done some with a gold and even a pearl lustre dust.  Both turned out really pretty.  These cookies are perfect for a wedding, shower or even a tea party!

If you ever need something different and unique for a party or special occasion, please contact me and let me create something special just for you!

Let's Play Baseball...

Hello Everyone.  Its been a busy few days here.  I had a few orders to work on and finally got then all finished and delivered.  So far I only have two orders for next week for Father's Day so it looks like its going to be a slow week.

This is a birthday set I made for a friend's little boy.  His birthday was today and part of his gift is a trip to the Cardinal stadium to see a ball game.  His favorite player is #7, Matt Holliday.  They wanted to give him a gift of baseball cookies as a hint to see if he would figure out what his actual gift was.

Also this week I wanted to try out this new flower technique that I learned watching a video by a very talented cookier...Amber Spiegel.

The technique almost makes the cookies look kinda lacy.  I didn't think I did too bad for my first try.

The next one I did I used a gold lustre dust.  I did it on several cookies but I really like how it turned out on this cookie that was iced black.  It almost looks antique.  It really does look really nice in person.  :)

Of course I couldn't stop there.... I also had some pearl lustre dust and tried it on a couple different colors.  I really like how they turned out on this teal colored flower.

I ended up doing several of these just to practice because I loved how they kept turning out.  Wouldn't these be just beautiful for a bridal shower, wedding or even a tea party???  I really enjoyed this technique and look forward to the next chance I get to practice something else that I hope you all might like seeing.

Hope you have a great weekend!

Don't Forget Dad!

Don't know if you know it but two weeks from today is Father's Day.  How about a unique gift for the Dad's in your life?  Need a sweet idea??  How about a cookie bouquet or gift set of cookies???

'World's Greatest Dad'
I love how this bouquet turned out.  Its much prettier in person.

Is Dad into motorcycles?  How about a few new 'Harley's'???

Maybe Dad is a sports fan....  We can do a baseball or even a football themed bouquet or gift set.
(baseball theme includes a glove cookie too!)

Or what about a 'set' of ties Dad can eat???

With over 300 cookie cutters, the possibilities are endless!

I can ship too for you!  Just remember I do need at least a week for shipping of a bouquet so get your order in early.  I accept PayPal too for easy payment.

Let me help you with that special gift just for Dad!

The Mail's Here!

Just like a little girl, this baker got so excited when the mail came yesterday.

Because this girl got some new tips and a new cookie cutter!

Yes, I have a lot of tips made by Wilton but these tips are different.  These are PME Supa-Tube tips.  The difference, beside the higher price, is that they are stainless steel and have no seam.

Seam, you say???   Apparently Wilton tips have a seam in them that cause, what I will call, a 'squiggly' when I try using my #1 tip or sometimes its as if the tip is clogged.  That squiggle can be very frustrating when your trying to write on a cookie or cake.  The PME tips are suppose to prevent these problems.

We will see.....  I plan on doing some decorating in the next two days so I will break out the new tips and let you know.  Wish me luck!

New Recipes in the Kitchen!

Thursday was a busy day for me in the 'Sweet Treats' kitchen, thanks to a pleasantly cool day.  I woke up early and decided to try out a couple new cupcake recipes.

The first was an 'Orange Dreamsicle' cupcake with an orange flavored buttercream icing.  It smelled so good while it was baking and tasted even better once they were iced.

The second was 'Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip' with a peanut butter flavored buttercream icing with chocolate drizzled across it.

Both cupcakes passed the taste test from my two favorite newscasters!
Jeff Cunningham and Kathy Sweeney from KFVS-12, here in
Cape Girardeau, Missouri.

I met Kathy a few years ago and she always tries to touch base with me to see how I am doing.  She is a sweetheart.  When she heard I was trying to start my own business she was thrilled and has been trying to help promote and get the word out.  I can't tell her enough about how much I appreciate her help and friendship.

After she and Jeff gave the cupcakes the 'thumbs up'.... I decided that these two flavors definitely made the list.  Now I have to figure out my next two recipes to test....
Any suggestions????

Hope you all have a wonderful day and enjoy your weekend!
